Customer Interview Series: Ellen on Why She Chose Summer Sun for Her Kids
Where did you go?
We headed down to Albany and Denmark for a little family getaway. It was such a beautiful mix of beaches, exploring, and just letting the kids run wild outdoors.

Did you buy the wetsuits specifically for the trip?
Yes, we did! I knew the water down south would be quite a bit cooler than Perth, so I wanted the kids to still be able to enjoy the beach without freezing.

What made you choose Summer Sun?
I loved the look of your wetsuits straight away — they’re practical but still really cute and I loved the bright colours for visibility around the water. The coverage and quality stood out, especially for keeping the kids protected and warm.

What difference has the wetsuit made for your children (or your holiday/beach/pool days)?
It honestly made such a big difference. All the kids stayed warm for so much longer, which meant more time playing in the water and less time complaining about being cold. It made beach days way more enjoyable and relaxed for all of us.

What do you or your kids love most about the wetsuit?
We love the colourways — they’re beautiful but also really practical, as they make the kids easy to spot in the water. The quality really stands out too; they’re durable but still soft and flexible, so the kids can move and play comfortably.

How would you describe Summer Sun to another parent?
I’d describe Summer Sun as a really thoughtful, parent-friendly brand that genuinely makes beach days easier. For me, it’s not just about how they look or perform — I love that they feel like a better, low-tox alternative as well. Knowing my kids are comfortable, protected, and in something I feel good about putting on their skin makes a big difference.

Apart from the holidays, have the kids been using their wetsuits for any other activities?
Yes! We’ve used them for beach trips at home, during outdoor water play and in friends and family's pool. The first thing the kids ask when we head anywhere to swim is "have you packed our suits?"

What was your biggest hesitation before purchasing (if any)?
I was initially nervous about getting the sizing right, as so many wetsuits can feel tight and rigid — I really wanted the kids to be comfortable and still able to move, play, and just be kids. But we found they were true to size (I wouldn’t size up), with plenty of flexibility and movement.
It was also a bit of a financial commitment buying three at once, and I wasn’t sure if my two sensory-sensitive kids would actually wear them. But the quality is amazing — they’re super soft, and the colour range made it easy to choose gender-neutral options so they can be handed down between all the kids. It really feels like something that will last and be worth it long term, especially with how often we travel around Western Australia and spend time adventuring.

How do your kids feel when they wear their Summer Sun wetsuit?
They’re excited to put them on — which says a lot! They love how comfortable they are and how easy they are to move in. Two of my kids have sensory sensitivities, so I was a bit unsure how they’d go — but they both wore them with no issues at all and didn’t want to take them off, which honestly says everything. My son even started calling his his “power suit” because he’s usually the first one out of the water because he gets cold and this time he was the last!

Practical, comfortable, reliable.
